Agriculture Ministry says 15% of winter crops could be resowed
Winter crops in Ukraine could be resowed on 15% of the total area cultivated, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko has said at a press conference in Kyiv.
"Some 15% could be resowed. One-third of winter crops are weak and thinned. Weather conditions will determine the outcome," he said.
Pavlenko said weather conditions last autumn determined the state of crops today. He said their condition could improve in warmer weather.
As reported earlier, Ukraine reduced the area sown with winter crops for the harvest of 2016 by 11%, to 7.1 million hectares, winter rapeseeds by 27%, to 655,200 hectares.
