Construction of Nord Stream 2 to destroy Ukrainian route of gas transportation to EU – Naftogaz
The construction of the Nord Stream 2 project will destroy the Ukrainian route to transport gas into the EU, the press service of Ukraine's Naftogaz Ukrainy wrote on Twitter, citing its head Andriy Kobolev.
"If Nord Stream 2 is built, the Ukrainian route will cease to exist. The European Union will sacrifice the existing transport capacities of 151 billion cubic meters annually in favor of the new ones, of 55 billion cubic meters "in order to cover future increase in demand," the press service quoted him as saying.
According to earlier reports, the Nord Stream 2 project includes construction of two legs of an offshore pipeline that will have the aggregate annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters. It will transport natural gas along the bed of the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany.
