Naftogaz buys gas cheaper than $200 per 1,000 cubic meters - ministry

The price of natural gas bought by national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy on the European market fell less than $200 per 1,000 cubic meters, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said.

"At present, Naftogaz buys gas at the price lower than $200, not taking into account transportation," the minister said at a meeting in Kyiv on Friday.

Average price of gas imported by Naftogaz from all directions in Q3 2015 fell to $266 per 1,000 cubic meters from $268 in Q2 2015 and $315 in Q1 2015. In Europe the price, not taking into account transportation, was $258, $267 and $293 respectively, and taking into account transportation to the Ukrainian border - $266, $275 and $301.
