Energy ministers of Ukraine, Turkmenistan discuss potential cooperation under TAPI project
Energy ministers of Ukraine and Turkmenistan held several meetings on Wednesday and discussed potential cooperation as part of building the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) gas pipeline, Director of the Department of Planning and European Integration at the Energy Ministry Mykhailo Bno-Airiian wrote on his Facebook page.
"Turkmengaz heads the consortium to build the gas pipeline, and we speak not only the pipeline section on the territory of Turkmenistan (around 250 km), but we discuss the interest in participating in other tenders for whole project," he said.
He said that Ukrainian companies could participate in TAPI gas pipeline related infrastructure projects.
Trade with fuel and resumption of supplies of Turkmen gas to Ukraine were also discussed.
The gas pipeline's length is to be 1,735 kilometers and over 700 kilometers of the pipeline are on the territory of Afghanistan. When the project is completed, it will be able to carry 33 billion cubic meters of gas.
