Some 5 mln households get housing subsidies in Ukraine - Yatseniuk

Some 5 million households had obtained subsidies to compensate the cost of housing and utilities services under a new procedure in Ukraine as of December 11, 2015, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has stated.

"Some 5 million households have received subsidies but not only were registered," he said, representing an annual report of the government, when speaking in the Verkhovna Rada.

At the same time, Yatseniuk stressed that the matter concerns providing housing subsidies to almost 15 million people.

As reported, with reference to the State Statistics Service, in January-October 2015 the total amount of subsidies to offset the cost of housing and utilities services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 905.4 million, which is 11.8 times or UAH 828.7 million more than in January-October 2014.

According to the State Statistics Service, in January-October 2015 subsidies were provided to 3.855 households, accounting for 88.4% of the total number of those who applied for them, and 5.6 times more than in January-October 2014. At the same time, 45% of the families who received subsidies in January-October 2015 consist of one person.
