Ukrzaliznytsia cannot stop increasing cargo tariffs in conditions of growth in price of fuel, spare parts

Ukrainian railways do not have a possibility of not increasing the tariffs for cargo transportation in the conditions of growth of prices of fuel and spare parts.

"Companies criticize this a lot, but we should assess the present situation without bias. For example, last year Ukrainian railways bought rails at UAH 12,000, and today they buy at UAH 26,000, wheel pairs cost UAH 8,000 last year and today it is UAH 14,000. We spend UAH 6 billion on diesel fuel today. The price has grown by almost 17%. Today there are all preconditions to raise the tariff by 15%," Ukrzaliznytsia Head Oleksandr Zavhorodniy told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said that the increase in the tariffs for ore transportation would not considerably affect the cost of metal.
