Ukraine should continue work on creating transparent public procurement market – Tombinksi
Ukraine should continue its work on creating transparent public procurement markets which will help to cut the expenses of the state budget, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski has said.
An open public procurement market will help to reduce the expenses of the Ukrainian budget, he said at the International Conference on Public Procurement in Kyiv on Friday.
According to Tombinski, the introduction of a new system of public procurement is already being felt, but it has not yet reached its expected targets.
Tombinski noted that the Ukrainian government should develop a road map for reforming the public procurement system in order to make the process more understandable.
He said that the European Union is helping Ukraine financially and this money of European taxpayers has filtered into the public procurement system in Ukraine.
European institutions do not want to see these funds being used for the enrichment of Ukrainian oligarchs, so the Ukrainian authorities need to fight corruption, including in the public procurement system, the ambassador said.
