Economy ministry, SPF urge Rada to pass amendments to privatization laws
The Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) have called on the parliament to pass draft law No. 2319a which would start the privatization of large facilities, Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius and SPF Head Ihor Bilous have said.
"We cannot postpone privatization anymore," Abromavicius said at a briefing with Bilous in Kyiv on Monday.
He said that there is no sense in having a large number of enterprises in state ownership as they generate only losses.
Bilous said that the privatization of Odesa Port-Side Plant has been prepared for a long period of time and the tender should be started in the near future.
"To put it mildly, we don’t have time," he said.
