Signing of new contract for power supply to Crimea depends on Cabinet, NSDC - Demchyshyn
The decision to sign a new contract on the supply of Ukrainian electricity to occupied Crimea in 2016 will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn has stated.
"To sign a new contract or not is a political issue. If there is the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the NSDC, then we'll fulfill it," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.
Thee minster said that before the pylons supplying electricity to Crimea were destroyed, supply ranged from 470 MW at night to 1,000-1,050 MW during peak hours, which is equivalent to 15-18 million kWh per day at 3.95 rubles per 1kWh.
