Vietnam has temporarily banned imports of Ukrainian wheat as grain weevil was found in grain, along with grain being imported with fabricated bio-security certificates.
The State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine reported on Friday that the service received five notifications from the plant protection department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development of Vietnam stating that the wheat of Ukrainian origin infested with grain weevil was rejected by the biosecurity measures of Vietnam.
After an investigation, the Ukrainian service established that 1,242 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat was exported to Vietnam with fabricated biosecurity certificates.
The Ukrainian service informed Vietnam about the results of the investigation.
Measures to revoke the temporary ban are being taken.
