Energy minister to propose that cabinet prolongs contract on power supplies to Crimea for 2016
The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine will extend the contract on supplies of electricity from Ukraine's mainland to occupied Crimea.
"The decision not to supply electricity to Crimea was the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers and I will again initiate the extension of the agreement this year," Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said in parliament in response to the question of Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov.
He said that military units and law enforcement agencies have their own generators. If electricity supplies to Crimea are suspended, the ordinary people will suffer first.
"Until the political decision is not made, we will fulfill our liability," he said.
