UK to grant $3 mln for business development of IDPs, residents of occupied Donbas
The UK will grant $3 million in assistance for internally displaced persons (IDP) in Ukraine and residents of areas in Donbas not under Kyiv's control, British Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne has said.
"I'm glad to report on raising additional $1.5 million for the support small entrepreneurships [of IDPs]," he said at the opening of the photo exhibition 'Faces of Refugees' in Kyiv on Thursday.
Swayne also said that a further $1.5 million will be issued by the UK to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide humanitarian aid to residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in areas uncontrolled by Ukraine.
Previously, Swayne wrote in an article for European Pravda that $1.5 million which the UK will issue for the program on employment and business development foresees assistance for 90 small and medium-sized business enterprises, the creation of 250 jobs in eight regions of Ukraine, and entrepreneurship courses for 500 people.
