Ukraine cuts gas consumption by 19% thanks to gas sector reform - Yatseniuk
Ukraine cut gas consumption by 19% in January-September 2015 compared with the previous year, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“We’ve saved 19% of natural gas,” he said.
He said that gas consumption fell thanks to gas sector reform, the introduction of market tariffs for gas, and a wide subsidy program. Around 4.1 million families received subsidies.
Yatseniuk said that the cabinet plans to increase the number of credits issued to the public for energy efficiency measures.
He said that 60,000 households received credits worth UAH 1 billion, and that the state compensates from 20% to 60% of the cost of energy efficiency measures.
