Defense budget for 2016 should be 5% of GDP - Turchynov
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov hopes that the NSDC will approve the defense budget for 2016 at 5% of Ukraine's GDP at a meeting on November 11.
"I hope that the National Security and Defense Council will support the challenges our country faces, which are set out in the National Security Strategy and the Military Doctrine. That is about 5% of GDP should be used for the needs of security and defense and at least 3% of the figure directly for the defense of the country," he told reporters after the launching ceremony of a small Gurza-M armored artillery boat at Leninska Kuznya plant in Kyiv.
