Number of loss-making banks falls to 45 in Ukraine as of Oct 1
The number of loss-making banks in Ukraine fell to 45 in January-September 2015, while as of early 2015, a total of 52 banks saw losses, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said on its website.
The NBU said that total consolidated loss in the banking system in January-September 2015 was UAH 68.867 billion. Seven insolvent banks posted UAH 16.469 billion in loss of 23.9% of the total loss.
The number of operating banks as of late Q3 2015 fell by four, to 123.
The central bank said that the main sum of losses was formed by banks from the group of the largest banks: 11 out of 13 banks saw losses.
Citibank saw the largest profit among all the banks (Kyiv, UAH 1.291 billion).
The largest loss was seen at insolvent bank Finance and Credit (Kyiv, UAH 9.079 billion).
