Naftogaz waiting for competitive prices from Gazprom

Ukraine will buy gas from OJSC Gazprom in Q1 2016 only if there is an attractive price, Naftogaz Ukrainy head Andriy Kobolev said in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"The issue of the price proposal, which Russia is making to us, this is an issue of separate talks. We are expecting and hoping that our Russian gas sellers will be prudent, and propose a competitive price to us. If this does not happen, then this will mean that we will buy all gas in Europe," the head of Naftogaz said.

Kobolev said that the signing of an additional agreement on Q1 2016 is not necessary, it is possible to act in the framework of documents that were signed this year.

The company head also said that Naftogaz Ukrainy is expecting a strong fall in prices for gas starting in Q2 2016. "We are expecting a serious fall in prices starting in Q2 2016," he said.
