Energy ministry to appoint commission to select last-resort gas supplier

The energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine will head the commission to select the gas supplier of last resort and appoint its members.

The decision is outlined in cabinet resolution No. 873 of October 21 on the creation of the tender commission to select the gas supplier of last resort.

As reported, on October 1, 2015 the new law on gas market took effect Ukraine. The law introduces the new notion of "gas supplier of last resort." The supplier is to guarantee gas supplies to consumers, however its tariffs could be larger.
