Cost of customs clearance for 250 HMMWVs supplied to Ukraine over UAH 1 million – defense ministry
The total cost of logistics services for customs clearance of 260 HMMWVs supplied to Ukraine in 2015 under U.S. government aid has reached UAH 1.156 million, the ministry's press service has reported.
The ministry said that the cost of customs clearance for the first batch of 130 HMMWVs was UAH 578,000 (VAT included, $200 per vehicle), customs clearance of 100 vehicles shipped to Odesa port (M998 model) worth $440,000 cost UAH 480,000 ($205 per vehicle), and 30 armored HMMWVs (M1114) worth $1.66 million shipped to Boryspil airport – UAH 98,000 (UAH 3,267 per vehicle).
"According to the conditions of the contracts and the Foreign Military Financing program, the United State s supplied the vehicles on a FOC basis. The Defense Ministry of Ukraine paid for logistics services during customs clearance," reads the report.
Recent Ukrainian media reports stated, referring to a source in the State Fiscal Service, that customs clearance for HMMWVs supplied to Ukraine by the United States cost UAH 967,000 per vehicle.
