Russia fails to pay fine for illegal flights to Crimea
Russia has not paid the fine imposed by the Ukrainian authorities on Russian airlines for illegal flights to Crimea, First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Shulmeister has said.
"Our position remains unchanged, i.e. the same as it was: if Russia pays the fine for the illegal flights and stops [Russian airlines from] flying to Crimea then we'll start negotiations. However, as this has not happened, we are in the same situation we were previously," he said at the Orchestrators of Change. II Directors forum in Kyiv.
Shulmeister said that the acting head of the State Aviation Service held technical consultations on the issue in Brussels last week, but said he knows nothing about the new date for talks.
At the same time, he added that he is certain that the fine has not been paid.
