Ukrtransgaz revises upwards forecast for gas transit via Ukraine in 2015 from 50 bcm to 65 bcm

Public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz has forecasted that natural gas transit via Ukraine to Europe in 2015 would be 65-66 billion cubic meters (bcm), while in early 2015 the company projected that transit would be 50 bcm.

"Recent months allow making better forecasts. Today, we have 53 bcm, and we're over-fulfilling the target included in the tariff. We expect that transportation will be within 65-66 billion [cubic meters]," Ukrtransgaz President Ihor Prokopiv said at a trade union conference in Yaremche (Ivano-Frankivsk region) on Wednesday.

Gas supplies for domestic consumers using Ukrtransgaz's gas pipelines in 2015 would total 36-37 bcm, taking into account operation expenses.

Gas stocks in underground storage facilities of the country as of November 1, 2015 would be 17.1-17.2 bcm.

"I'm stating a fact that Ukraine's gas transport system is ready for the heating season," Prokopiv said.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% of which is owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, which operates the main gas pipeline system, has 12 underground storage facilities.
