Turkmenistan hopes to cooperate with Ukraine on transcontinental transport corridor

P resident of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov says he hopes for cooperation with Ukraine in the creation of a transcontinental transport corridor.

"I think we've got many opportunities to create a good transcontinental transport corridor," he said at a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko in Ashgabat on Thursday.

In his words, this issue is important not only to Turkmenistan, but also to other countries, as it opens up more opportunities for cooperation.

The Turkmen president also sees good prospects for cooperation in energy, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

"We have very good bilateral relations with Ukraine," he said, adding that they need to be given an additional boost.
