CORRECTION: Delayed wages shrink by 4.8% in Sept – statistics

The overall sum of delayed wages in Ukraine in September 2015 fell by 4.8%, the State Statistics Service reported on Friday.

Since the beginning of the year, the debts have increased by 44.6%.

Wage debts as of October 1, 2015, were estimated at UAH 1.908 billion, or 5.4% of the overall monthly payroll fund for September. The wage arrears at operating companies amounted to UAH 1.33 billion, those of economically inactive businesses stood at UAH 32.724 million, and bankrupt enterprises'' debts made up UAH 544.974 million.

An increase in wage debts in September 2015 was seen in Ternopil region by 19.6%, Volyn region by 17.5%, Rivne region by 12.4%, Dnipropetrovsk region by 9%, Mykolaiv region by 6%, Kherson region by 3%, Zakarpattia region by 2.9%, Cherkasy region by 2.1%, Zaporizhia region by 1.3%, Chernihiv region by 1.1% and Kyiv region by 0.8%.

The following regions managed to reduce wage debts in September 2015: wage arrears in Khmelnytsky region shrank by 41.7%, Chernivtsi region by 32%, Luhansk region by 12.6%, Donetsk region by 7.9%, Odesa region by 7.8%, Ivano-Frankivsk region by 6.9%, Zhytomyr region by 5.7%, Kirovohrad region by 5.4%, Lviv region by 3.9%, Kharkiv region by 3%, Sumy region by 2.3% and Kyiv city by 2.6%.

Delayed salaries increased in culture, sports, entertainment and recreation by 28.9%, to UAH 2.929 million, IT and telcoms by 15.7%, to UAH 3.484 million, research and studies by 6.4%, to UAH 65.848 million and finance and insurance by 6.3%, to UAH 21.057 million.

Arrears in healthcare reduced by 29.7%, to UAH 11.861 million, administrative and support services by 21.5%, to UAH 12.123 million, education by 21%, to UAH 4.176 million, agriculture by 12%, to UAH 10.085 million, public administration, defense, compulsory social insurance by 12%, to UAH 5.432 million, industry by 6.2%, to UAH 1.307 billion and provision of other services by 39.3%, to UAH 647,000.
