Ukraine to join European Economic Area - Yatseniuk
Ukraine will join the European Economic Area, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"We have a two-way street… I once again want to emphasize that the agreement on the free trade area will enter into force on January 1. Like it or not, Ukraine will be part of the European Economic Area without any doubt," Yatseniuk said at the opening of the Ukrainian-German Economic Forum in Berlin on Friday.
According to him, the agreement will modernize the Ukrainian economy.
"I do not want the Ukrainian economy to continue to be resource-based. We need to have the same standards and criteria, and the quality of products, as in Germany," Yatseniuk said.
