NSDC secretary, Lithuanian minister discuss strengthening security cooperation
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov and Interior Minister of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis at a meeting in Kyiv discussed the prospect of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, in particular the reform of law enforcement agencies.
"The sides discussed the intensification of cooperation between our countries in the area of security. They paid special attention to the issue of reforming the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine," the NSDC press service reported after the meeting on Tuesday.
Discussing the issues of cooperation in the area of information technologies, the NSDC secretary stressed that "the use of IT in the security sector is one of the most effective factors in overcoming corruption."
"We are open for cooperation between our countries and we are grateful for the support we have always received from Lithuania," Turchynov said.
In turn, Skvernelis said that Lithuania was ready to help Ukraine in every way on its path to the European Union's full membership.
