Energy Community extends deadline for reducing Ukrainian TPPs' harmful emissions by 9-11 years
The Energy Community has extended the deadlines for Ukrainian thermal power plants and combined heat and power supply plants to lower the concentration of pollutants in flue gases by 9-11 years.
Head of the European integration department at the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry Mykhailo Bno-Airiian wrote on his Facebook page about such decision takem by the Energy Community's Ministerial Council in Tirana (Albania) on October 16.
The deadlines for achieving the targets have been moved from 2018-2024 to 2029-2033 years.
In addition, the Energy Community has agreed to make an exception for Ukraine and increase twofold the service life for the power units, which cannot be upgraded, to 40,000 hours.
According to Bno-Airiian, Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn during the meeting of the Energy Community's Ministerial Council also raised the issue of increasing the funding by the European Union for reducing harmful emissions of thermal power plants and combined heat and power supply plants in Ukraine.
