Novak: agreement reached with Ukraine on gas supply terms in Oct 1-March 31 period
Agreement on the terms of Russian gas supplies to Ukraine in the October 1-March 31 period was reached at negotiations held last week, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said.
"Trilateral consultations were held with our partners on September 25. We managed to agree the content of the protocol on the terms of interaction in supply of gas from Russia to Ukraine in the October 1-March 31 period, that is, the so-called winter package. The main provisions of that agreement are the mutual obligations of all sides. In the first place this is the Ukrainian side's obligation to guarantee continued, reliable transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe in all those volumes that Gazprom presents for transit in accordance with the existing contract," Novak said at a meeting President Vladimir Putin held with members of the government.
