Cabinet introduces social gas quota set at 200 cubic meters for UAH 3,600
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has decided to sell 200 cubic meters of natural gas per household using gas for heating at half price, and the difference will be offset at the expense of the national budget, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"Today, the Cabinet of Ministers acting within its authority as provided by laws is taking a decision to provide a social quota of 200 cubic meters of gas at a price of UAH 3,600 to every Ukrainian citizen, which is twice lower than the market price of natural gas," he said at a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
In his words, the government will compensate the difference in price at the expense of budget funds.
Yatseniuk told the heads of regional administrations and local energy suppliers that the government had found "UAH 5.6 billion to compensate the prices and tariffs from the previous periods."
