Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants increase by 1.9% in a week – Ukrenergo
Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from August 31 to September 6, 2015 increased by 1.9% or by 26,300 tonnes, to 1.445 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.
Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 684,400 tonnes and gas and short-flame coal – 760,200 tonnes (including 204,100 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).
The company said that on September 7, 31 coal power units and three fuel oil power units at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.127 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 9.117 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 456 MW, combined heat and power plants – 639 MW and alternative energy units – 180 MW.
Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
