Infrastructure ministry to distribute tonnage tax between Sea Port Authority, owners of water areas
The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine will distribute the tonnage tax between Ukraine's Sea Ports Authority and private companies-owners of water areas.
The Infrastructure Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine that the initiative is stipulated in amendments to order No. 316 which regulates the procedure for collecting port dues.
The ministry said that over the past several years operation water areas set up by private companies appeared at ports.
"The actions of the ministry are aimed at distributing the tonnage tax for passing the water areas between the Sea Ports Authority as the asset holder of the general water area and owners of operation water areas. Earlier, it was not settled in Ukrainian law," the ministry said.
"It is important to say that port dues are targeted taxes. That is why the funds received by private companies from the tonnage tax are to be sent to support the technical state of the port's infrastructure," the ministry said.
