Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants increase to 1.418 mln tonnes in late Aug – Ukrenergo
Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from August 25 to August 31, 2015 increased by 7.6% or by 99,700 tonnes, to 1.418 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.
Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 635,200 tonnes and gas coal – 783,100 tonnes (including 191,000 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).
The company said that on August 31, 32 coal power units and two fuel oil power units at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.115 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 9.089 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 601 MW, combined heat and power plants – 652 MW and alternative energy units – 139 MW.
Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
