Centrenergo to get first batches of Russian coal by Sept - Demchyshyn
PJSC Centrenergo will receive the first batches of A grade coal from the Kuznetsk Basin (Russia) by the end of this month, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn said at a meeting of the anti-crisis energy staff on August 20.
"Centrenergo will get the first batch from Kuzbass, which is expected to be 200,000 tonnes and will arrive in the near future. I think the first wagons will come to the station by the end of August, it takes five to ten days regardless of logistics," the minister said.
According to Demchyshyn, Centrenergo also has agreements on first deliveries by sea in late September-early October.
He said that coal received by sea costs Ukraine $77-80 per tonne (delivered to thermal power stations), from Russia - $65-67, and from the occupied districts of Donbas - $52-55.
As reported, an unofficial ban on coal supplies to Ukraine has been in place in Russia since last year.
