Ukraine accumulates 14.1 bcm of gas in underground storage facilities – Ukrtransgaz
Stocks of natural gas held in underground gas storage facilities of Ukraine totaled 14.1 billion cubic meters (bcm) as of Monday morning, the press service of public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz has reported.
"Every day natural gas is accumulated in the pumping mode of 44 million cubic meters at seven gas storage facilities," reads the report.
As reported, Ukraine started withdrawing gas from its underground storage facilities on October 20, 2014 to ensure supplies for the 2014-2015 heating season when the available stocks totaled 16.75 bcm. The heating season ended on April 10, 2015 when stocks totaled 7.609 bcm.
Ukrtransgaz, which is wholly owned by NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk pipelines and 12 underground storage facilities in Ukraine with a total storage capacity of 31 bcm.
