Energy minister estimates cost of South African coal at around $80/tonne
Ukraine's Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn has estimated that the cost of coal imported from South Africa is slightly under $80 per tonne.
"As of today, we've signed contracts with producers from South Africa ready to supply coal for less than $80: $77-78, considering supply to the station," he said after a meeting of the energy headquarters in Kyiv.
As reported, with reference to Demchyshyn, the country needs to additionally import about 500,000 tonnes of coal for 2.5 months. Coal imports are to be provided from South Africa, Russia and the United States, including by sea.
