Ukraine insists on achieving gas agreements with Russia for whole heating period – energy minister
Ukraine insists on achieving gas agreements with Russia for the whole heating season and wants to have an agreed position before Q1 2015, during low temperatures, Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said.
"We don’t think that we ask something wrong, proposing that the principle is set, not the price, not the figure, but the principle of forming the price for several quarters and in December, when the temperature is different and consumption is different, we don't face the fact that one of the partners starts grabbing the biggest piece of the pie," he said on the Fifth TV Channel late on Sunday.
He said that Ukraine also believes that the price of Russian gas for the country should be lower than for Europe, taking into account the smaller expenses for Russian gas transportation.
"We have some claims to the price. We still believe that the price for Ukraine should be lower than in Europe, taking into account the transport shoulder," he said.
