Ukrnafta's minority shareholders go to British court demanding compensation from Naftogaz for gas supplied
Minority shareholders of public joint-stock company Ukrnafta connected with Privat Group (Littop Enterprises Ltd, Bridgemont Ventures Ltd, Bordo Management Ltd) have appealed to the London Court of International Arbitration demanding compensation from Naftogaz Ukrainy for natural gas delivered in 2006-2011.
In their claim statement, a copy of which was obtained by Interfax-Ukraine, the minority shareholders state that the new law on joint stock companies violates their rights (in particular, rights envisaged in the agreement between Ukrnafta shareholders dated 2010).
Naftogaz Ukrainy has confirmed the report about the lawsuit.
"We have been sued today over the shareholders agreement. Minority shareholders believe that we violated or are going to violate it," Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.
He found it difficult to predict if the litigation would disrupt a Ukrnafta shareholders meeting Ukrnafta scheduled for July 22.
Naftogaz Ukrainy owns a 50% plus one share stake in Ukrnafta, and the group of companies related to the shareholders of PrivatBank (Dnipropetrovsk) owns about 42% of shares.
