European Commission's Sefcovic to discuss Ukraine gas supplies with gas company heads
European Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic will meet with the heads of Europe's gas companies on Wednesday, July 15, to discuss the issue of gas supplies for Ukraine.
The meeting will be attended by the heads of E.ON, ENGIE, OMV, PGNiG, RWE, ENI and Statoil, the European Commission said in materials. No mention was made of Russia's Gazprom.
Sefcovic will also discuss the issue of European companies pumping gas into underground storage facilities in Ukraine with the gas company chiefs, Yuriy Vitrenko, business development manager at Ukraine's Naftogaz, told Interfax.
"They plan to discuss European companies pumping gas into underground storage," he said.
Ukraine has stored 12.188 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas as of July 8. Underground storage facilities were 39% full. Ukraine itself has been pumping around 30 million cubic meters of gas into storage since the start of the month.
