Yatseniuk demands transparency, nuclear fuel supply diversification, completion of Khmelnytsky NPP from Energoatom
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has demanded transparent operation, diversification of nuclear fuel supplies, and the completion of power units at Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant (NPP) from Energoatom.
"I have a request for you: transparency, the fulfillment of contracts with Westinghouse, diversification of energy sources, and completion of power units," he said during a meeting at the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry in Kyiv, speaking directly to the leadership of the ministry and Energoatom.
Yatseniuk said that main priority for Energoatom is the Westinghouse contract and the diversification of nuclear fuel supply.
According to Yatseniuk, Energoatom is one of the most expensive assets of the Ukrainian energy system and Russia is trying to gain control over it.
"In addition, I see Russian "ears" there – in the fight for Energoatom," Yatseniuk said.
