Three Centrenergo power plants could be privatized separately - energy minister
Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said that three thermal power plants of public joint-stock company Centrenergo could be privatized separately.
"This is a good idea… The larger number of participants and it is better that they were of better quality, have access to coal, money that is required to from the working capital, and investment in desulphurization and modernization of units the better it will be," he said at a roundtable talk in Kyiv on Thursday.
As reported, Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine Ihor Bilous on June 12 said that the fund will present Centrenergo, Odesa port-side chemical plant and energy supply companies which are to be privatized at an investment conference in Washington on July 13.
Centrenergo operates the Vuhlehirska, Zmiyivska and Trypilska thermal power plants, which have a total installed capacity of 7.550 gigawatts. The state owns a 78.3% stake in the company through national JSC Energy Company of Ukraine.
