Ukraine has not paid Gazprom for July gas, supplies halted from 10:00 Moscow time
Ukraine has not made the prepayment for Russian gas supplies in July and from the start of the new gas day, gas supplies to Naftogaz Ukrainy were stopped.
Earlier Naftogaz itself announced that on Wednesday it would receive gas only from Slovakia.
"As of this morning, the central dispatch department of Ukrtransgaz received a request to import 13.6 million cubic meters of natural gas from the territory of Slovakia. Gas is not being supplied via other routes for the needs of Ukrainian consumers," Maksym Biliavsky, the Ukrainian pipeline operator's PR chief, told Interfax.
Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller told journalists: "Ukraine has not paid for gas supplies in July. From 10:00 a.m. on July 1 gas supplies by Gazprom to Ukraine are stopped. Gazprom will not supply gas to Ukraine at any price without the prepayment.
