Ukraine pays next coupon on 2016 eurobonds – source
On June 17 Ukraine paid the coupon on eurobonds due in December 2016, a well-informed source has told Interfax-Ukraine.
He did not disclose the sum of payment, adding that the eurobonds worth $1.25 billion were issued in 2011 with the coupon of 6.25% per annum, which extended the sum of repayment to $39.063 million.
The Finance Ministry, which recently decided not to publish information on concrete payments on eurobonds, did not comment on the information.
Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko on June 17 said that Ukraine continues to repay its debt and the Ukrainian government has not used the right to a moratorium granted by the parliament to suspend repayment of foreign debts.
She said that the finance ministry cannot stop payments by itself: the procedure should be observed and the Cabinet of Ministers should make the decision.
$75 million interest on Ukraine's $3 billion eurobond debt issued for Russia in the end of 2013 is to be repaid on June 20.
