Ukraine trade in goods surplus drops by 18% in April - statistics
Ukraine's balance of foreign trade in goods in April for the third month in a row was positive and amounted to $230.2 million compared to $288.1 million in March and $133.5 million in February 2015.
According to the State Statistics Service, compared to April last year the surplus of foreign trade in goods reduced by 41%.
According to statistics, exports in April this year in comparison with April last year declined by 39.3%, to $3.07 billion, imports - by 39.2%, to $2.84 billion.
The rate of foreign trade decline accelerated, especially in exports: in March 2015 exports of goods from Ukraine compared to March 2014 fell by 31.6%, and imports - by 35.5%. In absolute terms, in April this year exports compared to the previous month decreased by 11%, and imports - by 10.3%.
In general, over the first four months of 2015 exports of goods fell by 34.6%, to $12.5 billion, imports - by 37.1%, to $11.9 billion, however surplus improved by 2.8 times, to $600 million.
The share of Russia in the structure of exports was down from 19.6% in January-April 2014 to 11.8% in January-April 2015, imports - from 28.6% to 16.2% respectively.
At the same time, the share of exports to China increased from 5.4% to 7.4%, Turkey - from 6.1% to 7.3%, Egypt - from 5.1% to 6.1%, Italy - from 5% to 5.4%, India - from 3.2% to 3.7%, Germany - from 2.9% to 3.5%, whereas to Poland it decreased from 5.3% to 5.1%.
