Energoatom to contest Russian court ruling on arrest of property worth $1.5-2.5 mln in favor of Remington

Energoatom will contest the decision of a Russian court regarding the arrest of the company's assets worth $1.5-2.5 million in favor of Remington Worldwide Ltd. (Gibraltar), head of the Ukrainian company Yuriy Nedashkovsky has told reporters in Kyiv.

"We have no grounds to repay this fictitious debt [to Remington] - no legislative or judicial decisions... But Russia has the decision of the Rostov federal district court, the decision of Rostov police officers, who arrested the property of Energoatom. Last year our products we supply to TVEL for nuclear fuel production [for us] became subject to this ruling. We supply uranium, bottom nozzles there. One batch worth $1.5-2.5 million has been really arrested. Now we are together with TVEL are contesting this decision in court," he said.

As reported, in 1999 Energoatom (represented by separate division Zaporizhia nuclear power plant) and state enterprise Ukrenergomashkomplekt signed a contract for the supply of equipment worth $33 million.

Ukrenergomashkomplekt went bankrupt and was liquidated before it had fulfilled its obligations to equipment manufacturer – Russia's Elektrokeramika, as a result Energoatom received its commitments to this enterprise.
