Underlying inflation in Ukraine in May slows to 1.9% – statistics
Underlying inflation in Ukraine in May 2014 slowed to 1.9% from 4.6% in April and 10.8% in March, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, since the beginning of the year underlying inflation has reached 27.7%, while in annual terms (compared to the same month last year) – 46.5% compared to 47.1% in April and 44.6% in March.
Underlying inflation does not include short-term irregular changes in prices influenced by various factors of an administrative, event-based or seasonal character. For instance, it does not include changes to the price of food and energy.
Growth in consumer prices in Ukraine in May also slowed to 2.2% after jumping by 14% in April and 10.8% in March, and in annual terms - to 58.4% from 60.9% a month earlier.
