Big Four to finish audit of energy tariffs in a week – Yatseniuk
The four largest international audit companies (Big Four) will finish the audit of new tariffs for gas, electricity and other energy tariffs set by the National Commission on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) by the end of this week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"When the independent report is ready, I propose that the government, NCER, Naftogaz Ukrainy is invited to the parliament, as well as auditors if they agree. We [will] spread the report and lift any political issues by economic answers [on] how the tariff was formed," he said in the parliament in Kyiv on June 5.
Yatseniuk believes that at present, the issue has moved from the economic to the political sector
He also said that on June 9 the government's draft law on the independent regulator which is to replace NCER is due to be discussed and it could be voted on in the parliament in a week.
"This will allow lifting any political pressure from NCER and it will allow setting any utilities tariffs transparently and honestly, as they have been set for gas and electricity," he said.
