Poroshenko urges government to expedite salaries, pensions indexation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called for the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to expedite the indexation of salaries and pensions for Ukrainian citizens.

"I ask the government to speed up by at least several months the positions of considering inflation and the possible indexation of salaries and pensions. This should be made neatly, avoiding any populist steps [so as to] not provoke hyper-inflation as it happened many times and not to destabilize the financial and economic situation in the country," Poroshenko said while addressing the parliament in his annual speech on Thursday.

Poroshenko said that the country's authorities should take into account that the country will have to allocate a part of the additional revenues to the defense sector.
