Ukraine's parliament the Verkhovna Rada has ratified an agreement between Ukraine and Japan on encouraging and protecting investment, which was signed in Kyiv on February 5, 2015.
The ratification sealed in bill No. 0020 was supported by 289 MPs.
According to the explanatory note to the draft law, the agreement "ensures investors of the contracting parties the most favorable conditions for the creation, acquisition and expansion of investment, guaranteeing protection from illegal expatriation and nationalization of investments on a reciprocal basis."
The agreement also stipulates investors' rights to the free transfer of funds related to investment and defines procedures to settle investment-related disputes.
