Intertelecom LLC telecommunications operator on May 18 stopped working in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, according to a report on the company's website.
"We inform that Ukrainian telecommunications operator Intertelecom LLC from May 18, 2015 at 00:00 switched off the segment of the telecommunications network, providing communications services in the territory of Crimea, from the control and communications center located in Odesa," reads the report.
The company said it was forced to stop working due to reasons beyond its control.
"Given the situation that resulted in the inability to carry out economically sound activities in the territory of Crimea, the operator is forced to stop work in Crimea. The staff of our units in Crimea was withdrawn from Intertelecom LLC. We are grateful to all our employees for many years of fruitful cooperation and believe that experience gained over the years of work in our company will be useful and in demand in the new reality," reads the report.
Previously, the operator said intended to cease its activities on May 1, but expressed hope that this could be avoided.
