Poroshenko to personally control fight against corruption in VAT refunding
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that he plans personally control fight against corruption schemes in the value added tax (VAT) refunding area.
"On May 16 UAH 5 billion of fake VAT tried to appear in the system. After the reaction they disappeared in 50 minutes, but this will be investigated. I will take this under own control and I won't allow doing those things they do with VAT," he said on the "Year of Poroshenko" program on the occasion of the first year of his tenure aired on Ukrainian television channels on Thursday evening.
Poroshenko also said that recently the top managers of the State Fiscal Service were reshuffled as a part of fighting corruption.
The president said that today there is a task of fighting corruption in many directions of the Ukrainian economy.
"I want to say that this is only the beginning. This has been highly appreciated by our foreign partners, and I'm sure that it will be highly appreciated by those who support Ukraine," the president said.
