Donbasenergo suspends Sloviansk TPP, no funds to buy fuel
Public joint-stock company Donbasenergo has suspended the operation of Sloviansk thermal power plant (TPP, Donetsk region) due to the absence of funds to buy fuel, the press service of the company has reported.
"As of May 25, 2015, electricity generation was suspended at Sloviansk TPP. Due to some illegal resolutions of NCER [National Commission of Ukraine on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation, starting from February 2015] public JSC Donbasenergo faces a critical financial situation," reads the report.
Donbasenergo assesses the debt owed by state enterprise Energomarket to the company as being worth UAH 1.5 billion. The company said that the ruling of the district administrative court of Donetsk of April 28 on declaring illegal NCER resolution No. 203 of February 18, 2015 has not been observed.
Donbasenergo operates the Starobesheve and Sloviansk TPPs with a total capacity of 2.88 gigawatts. Starobesheve TPP is located in the occupied territories of Ukraine, while Sloviansk TPP is located in the government-controlled territories of Donetsk region.
