No national low-cost airline to appear soon – Infrastructure Ministry
Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure has said that at present it sees no possibility for the appearance in the Ukrainian market of a national low-cost airline.
"I do not forecast the emergence of a Ukrainian low-cost airline, I do not know who it could be," First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Shulmeister said on Radio Stolytsi.
Previously, Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky said that Ryanair (Ireland), the leading European low-cost airline, is potentially ready to enter Ukraine, in particular at Lviv airport.
"Ryanair is potentially ready, other low-cost air carriers are potentially ready, Easy Jet - unlikely. Potentially this means that they need to see, to analyze. This is pure economics, they are interested in how much they can earn. There could be various conditions. My task, the task of my deputies, the State Aviation Service, is to at least get in touch and say "welcome," give your vision of the conditions under which you can enter, and we'll see whether we can provide such conditions," he said.
